About Dubblebath

History
This project has been operating online under many rubrics since 2000. The idea itself was seeded some time in 1995 while operating an underground radio show on WJUL. The weekly program The Syndicate aired Wednesdays from 12 - 6 am and became a locus for dance music culture that was not part of the inclusive night club scene. As internet broadcasting evolved, the project moved online and operated as an event based netcast — an experiment in moving the temporary autonomous zone of the Rave into an distributed, online community.

The idea of broadcasting quality dance music that is free from its often defacto cultural hegemony has continued to thrive and exists here more than 10 years later.

Technology
This project originally started out as static HTML pages using an Earthlink webcam and ran RealServer on a salvaged Solaris machine. It now runs on a custom-built platform that includes an integrated publishing, netcasting and data aggregation software featuring a custom CMS, mobile access, and page scraping robots to ensure unique and high quality content.
